The Istiqlal Mosque prepares thousands of free
takjil (light snacks) and rice boxes to break the fast for worshipers during Ramadan.Before being distributed, the takjil and rice boxes are inspected to ensure their quality and safety.
A Peek Into History of Sunda Kelapa Grand MosqueWorship Organization Head who is also Istiqlal Mosque Ramadan 1444 Hijri Amaliyah Committee Chief, Bukhori Sail Attahiri said as many as 3,000 takjil and rice box packages are provided from Monday to Thursday, 4,000 packages on Friday, and 5,000 packages from Saturday and Sunday.
"This number is still less when compared to the worshipers who attended. However, there are always takjil contributions from donors for those who do not receive takjil," he said, Monday (4/3).
He explained the mosque had set a budget of Rp 30,000 per package of takjil and rice boxes with complete side dishes. These food packages were safe to be consumed after passing through the examination stage.
"We first check whether the food is by the provisions," he explained.
He cited that the food was not suitable, such as being stale or spoiled by rain or serving the menu not according to the agreement.
"So, we make sure the food menu that is distributed is in good condition and not stale," he asserted.
He added it was carried out thus all Muslims can feel the mercy and blessings of Ramadan
"As a community institution engaged in religion, we have to care about each other," he stated.
